It’s been a while since, I’ve posted. The last several weeks, it has been in my spirit to push through some of my fears so that I can get to the end of my comfort zone.
Everyone has something and/or some things that they just feel uncomfortable doing. It is truly real for us. The thing about doing something you’ve never done before, it’s just plain scary. The minute you think about doing it, you immediately follow that thought with a bunch of “what if it does not…” The ideal is sabotaged right out of the brain. You know what I’m talking about. We all do it.
One of the things that I would like to do is create more videos. The first time I tried to do a video of myself speaking, I saw everything wrong with me. My hair wasn’t right. I saw a wrinkle. Immediately I recognized exactly what I was doing. I was sabotaging. I had to laugh at myself. I haven’t done it yet, however, I have been simmering on it. I’m thinking about the reasons I have not done it. Could it be fear of being rejected? Could it be fear of not saying it right? As I move through my process, I realize it is just stuff that hold no weight. Stuff that I am making up in my own head. It’s just me being critical of myself. As I look back on the first time I’ve done anything, it wasn’t all together. Overtime, I was able to work at it, until I was comfortable with the results. That’s just how it works. You’ve got to do it to get it. Hmm, I like the ring of that.
So today, I am challenging you and myself to Do Something Different that ends our comfort zone. I’m all about the baby steps, so here are some suggestions that I came up with: wear a color that you typically don’t wear, eat something that you’ve never eaten. Try a new recipe. Talk to someone you’ve never spoken to. You chose. There are a ton of things we can do different.
